Apologies first, for the dreadful quality photos which do not show this unit in it's true glory as it's in fantastic condition considering it's over thirty years old.
This is basically a 19" rack version of some of the best pedals Ibanez ever made at their Maxon factory in the early 1980's.
It is not a digital approximation of those pedals, but all the same circuits, on one large PCB that is full of early JRC 4558 chips. Featuring exactly the same controls that you find on the pedals.
It also has an ingenious system that they call 'Insta Patch' which allows you to configure the pedals in any order. There is also an effect loop so if you want to add your favourite pedal somewhere in the equation it's very easy to do.
The CP-9 Compressor has got to be the very best that I have ever heard. Bar none. It sounds more like Dave Gilmour's lead sound on 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' than anything I have ever encountered in 36 years of playing. With incredible punch whilst still retaining the crystal clear essence of a Strat or Tele.
The PQ-9 Parametric EQ is a great tool for adding extra punch or clarity to solo or rhythm work. Or for removing harsh frequencies.
The CS-9 Stereo Chorus gives you all those weird and wonderful Cure/Banshees/Cocteau Twins style chorusing.
The AD80 Analog Delay is the jewel in the crown and has got to be the most sought after vintage analog delay circuit on the planet. I've seen several AD-80's change hands on Ebay for over £250 a piece. Fantastically clean, but very soft organic repeats and insane feedback control make it an instant go to for rockabilly, reggae dub effects or sci-fi swirls. You can lose hours drifting off on a trail of pretty echoes….
Comes with it's own pedal board to switch each effect in or out and a total Master switch that bypasses the whole unit.
This is connected to the back of the rack unit by a very long (over 20 feet) cable.
All in all a very very sweet bit of kit in excellent condition considering it's over thirty years old!
All the switches and pots work fine and it sounds awesome as the Youtube clip on the left illustrates.
This is a American 110v powered unit but I will include a step down transformer so it's ready for European use.
